Whats Happenin' Canadore!

For those of you who don't know me, I'm Chris Shepherd, your Canadore Students Representative Council Vice President External for 2008/2009. I am currently going into my 5th year here at Canadore College and my 2nd year on the CSRC. But you know what I've learned in my five years here at Coolidge… I've learned that you can't really treat every situation as a life-and-death matter because you'll die a lot of times… Write that down.

I will be involved with many different committees over the next year as your VP External, such as: Academic Council, Campus Health and Safety Committee, and I will be an active member of (CSA) College Student Alliance. The CSA is a member-driven advocacy and leadership organization which proudly serves Ontario's College and College-University students.

One major thing I am in charge of this year is the Awareness Team (A-TEAM). This is a group of Canadore students dedicated to dealing with important student issues around and off campus during the year. We will be putting on events through the year not because we are against some of the topics but to better student awareness on things such as: Sex, Drugs, not so much rock'n'roll but more along the lines of drinking and driving, responsible drinking, violence and much more. Be sure to keep your eyes open for upcoming events and contact me personally to get involved. It's a great group of students this year who are out to have some fun because after all, you should never take life too seriously… You'll never get out alive!

Your college life is exactly what you make it out to be, so get involved, meet as many people as you can and enjoy what Canadore has to offer you. If you're always thinking about the future, then you kinda forget about the present. So live a little! Participate in as many events as you can and in return it will benefit not only you but our school and the student body in general. Not to mention all the amazing people you will meet and great connections you will make along the way. Other than that if you have any questions, comments or just want to chat (maybe find out how to get involved) just cruise by my office and I will be more than happy to meet with you. Be sure to never worry about where your heading in life, everything works out in the end… and plus, worrying is like a rocking chair… It gives you something to do but it doesn't get you anywhere!

So make the most out of your time here at Canadore, take every opportunity possible, and meet as many people as you can, because this will only lead to many more great times. Always remember that work is for people with jobs, so be sure to have the time of your life.

The work never ends, but college does!
